Harrison and Doc and Rained Out Shakespeare

Summer Rhythms are in. Busy in a different way than school rhythms. A good break with lots of fun activities.

Harrison had Silas over for his 13th birthday. (How is he 13?!)

They swam at the pool, and had water-gun fights at home. Lots of water!

Harrison wanted a giant chocolate chip cookie instead of a cake (he actually wanted cookie dough, so I saved some back for him).

Mimi and Papa came over for supper (Stromboli!) to help celebrate.

Cody and Chris were here last weekend. Doc really took to Chris. I think he would have gone home with him if he could have, and I would have sent him. I was none too happy with Doc that weekend because.......

These are all the cats we have left.
Those two in the background.
Guess why?!

Doc discovered his canine instincts. Along with some sickness that invariably killed a few kittens, and along with Wallace and the other black kitty presumably running off because of too many changes at the farm (a new dog and new mamas and kittens), Doc got rid of the rest. It was a sad, sad backyard for a bit there.

So we are back to a dog and two cats: Abigail (she's a survivor!) and Pickles (Phoebe calls him the lazy uncle).

I love looking at the bean field and seeing the distinct rows. Pretty soon the beans will be high enough that you can't see the dirt.

Phillip loves Doc through it all.
I love Doc fine. I just don't always like him.

Alas, we tried to go see another Shakespeare in the Park in St. Louis. But when we arrived it was raining, and they pretty quickly let everyone know that it was canceled.

So we went to IKEA instead.
Gabry and Ainsley hadn't been there before, so that was fun. The girls really liked this yellow toaster. It was a very pretty yellow kitchen laid out here.

Panera Bread for a late supper. I love their food! Good flavors.

Jonathan brought home bad vegetables from the store today and spent the afternoon salvaging the good veggies and making this delicious soup. It was a winner!

And some awesome news from Texas.
This little neighbor of ours is at Believer's Class at her church and is planning to be baptized. Her mom has been updating me on her at church camp and all kinds of things. It's really a joyous thing to participate in the spiritual growth of these children, even from far away. So proud of you! My prayers go up for every one of our old Texas neighbors.
