She knows how to use her head...
Elizabeth doesn't like to knock on the neighbors' doors to see if they are home and can come play. So for the neighbor girl across the street whose mom parks in the garage, she devised a plan. She placed a pile of dirt in their driveway so that when the car went into the garage, she could see the tire track in the dirt and know they were home. There are a myriad of ways this isn't fool-proof, but I love the way she thinks!!

Happy Birthday, Grandma Phoebe!
Today is Grandma Phoebe's birthday. She is the grandma that our little Phoebe Ruth is named after. The picture above is of Grandma and Grandpa and Phillip's mom (middle child) and two of her siblings. (There were three more to come.) We missed getting together with the aunts and uncles this year! I think we've always been able to make it for her birthday, but this year we're just too far away. I remember when I first met her at dinner with Phillip's family when we began dating. She was very sweet and kind. I noticed her studying me for a while and then she said suddenly, "Why, Lanaya has good teeth!" It still makes me laugh! We love her and miss her, but extend warm happy birthday wishes!

Phoebe's 2nd Birthday!
Mickey Mouse cake (the mickey mouse plate was given to us by our old neighbors who happened to be there for Phoebe's birth since it was a home birth that the midwives were late for (not their fault).

Sometimes I can't wait to get there.
After 6 loads of laundry and 10 hours of all of us throwing up in this household, I think I see the end of the tunnel! I haven't been this sick since I was a kid! The kids, freshly washed, are sleeping back in their beds. Phillip is sleeping on the couch (his way of "staying up till 10" so he can sleep tonight). My stomach feels the best it's felt since 4 pm yesterday. In the midst of one trip to the toilet bowl, the thought kept going through my head, "In heaven there will be no sickness or pain!"
